SMASTA, Our Pride
SMA Negeri 1 Tabanan, commonly referred to as SMASTA, is well-known as the first school established in the Tabanan Regency. It still exists and is continuing to develop. It is officially announced in 1961. It was established from a very modest building into a luxury school. Its human resource and quality are growing well completed by teaching learning facility.
As one of the best schools in Tabanan, the registration of the newcomer is very tight. The new candidates have to pass TPA (placement test) held by SMA Negeri 1 Tabanan in cooperation with SMA Negeri 4 Denpasar. The purpose of the test is to select the candidates who have good quality in academic.
The school, which commemorates its anniversary every August, 5th has many activities such as club, extracurricular, OSIS (student organization), and MPK (student representative). Through these activities, the students are able to explore and develop their talents and hobbies in academic or non academic. No wonder some of them are able to compete in local, regional, even International level.
As the oldest school in Tabanan with hundreds of trophies, SMASTA is continuously developing the innovation of teaching learning process. It's becoming better since it is headed by Drs. I Made Suistana Adiputra, M.Pd. He initiated SMASTA culture, namely discipline, clean, bilingual, learning achievement, learning community and desire to read. Furthermore, he announced the long term program of the school, which is to build "CETAK" students. CETAK stands for cerdas (Smart ), trampil (Competence), and berkepribadian dengan kultur budaya (good personality). He brought a new spirit to manage the school, and always warmly welcome the students who are able to develop SMASTA culture.
The students have obtained many academic and athletic trophies in local, national, even International level. I Made Dwi Ariawan, SMASTA alumnus had reached silver medal in IBO (International Biology Olympiad). Putu Linda Indita Sari (Grade XI RSBI) had an opportunity to go to Philippines and Singapore as 2008 Youth Ambassador, representative of Bali Province. In 2009 Pande Putu Era Wijantari (Grade XI RSBI) was chosen by Central Government to go to Japan as a reward of mastering Biology. This is the result of a good relationship between teachers, students, staff, school committee, and government.
In addition, SMASTA also involves in various kinds of social work, such as hand in hand cleaning Pancakatirta warrior mausoleum and Dalem temple and visiting reformatory and blood donor. These activities indicate that SMASTA is also a part of society.
In achieving the International Standard School, it needs hard work. It is not an easy way to have such responsibility. But as a wise man said where there is a will there is a way, and "yes we can." It is expected that the students are becoming more active or applying student centered in teaching learning process. The numbers of learning facilities with modern tools are being increased. Then, Friday is announced as an English Day. The important thing is the slogan of SMASTA that is Tadhartam Karma Muktah Sangah Samacara means that working and studying hardly as a respect to The Almighty God and never expecting any reward.
Last but not least, let's do our best for brighter future. Suggestions and Critics are expected to develop SMASTA becoming more and more competitive and always be OUR PRIDE.
